Manufacturer Realizes Immediate ROI Boost with iCrescendo Solution
June 3, 2003 - New Hampshire Ball Bearings (NHBB) has successfully implemented iCrescendo's biometric Time and Attendance (T&A) data capture system. By using biometric readers, NHBB was able to significantly improve the validity of its employee attendance data and capture the true work hours of each employee; thereby immediately impacting the company's ROI. In addition, by allowing employees to use only a PIN and their fingerprint, NHBB was able to do without badges or cards that could get lost or stolen.
For the past two years, NHBB had sought a biometric T&A device that could feed data directly into their AS/400 payroll server. However, the only devices available in the marketplace required data to be routed via a dedicated PC. iCrescendo’s smart2K/Bio is the only device that communicates directly with the AS/400 system allowing configuration of the biometric units and management of the collected data.
As stated by NHBB Technical Support Analyst, Michael Hanley, “with the excellent technical support that we received from iCrescendo, we were able to build a Java application on our AS/400 that allows us to collect the data directly from the biometric units without additional hardware involved. We are even able to ensure that the date and time on the biometric units is synchronized with our AS/400 to ensure accurate time reporting. With the support that you provided, we were able to test and implement the entire project in approximately six weeks which is amazing considering the vast departure involved from our prior T&A system.”
