Introducing our latest Time & Attendance and Access Control terminal

smart2K/Bio™ is a state-of-the-art device that has all of the rich features of the smart2K family and has a built-in semiconductor capacitive array finger reader as well as a magnetic card, Proximity or bar code reader to function as a dual finger print and ID card verification device. This feature ensures maximum security and prevents use by “buddies” for access and attendance tracking.
The aluminum die cast enclosure makes smart2K/Bio™ very rugged and sturdy. Unlike the optical finger reader, this capacitive array reader will function reliably and consistently in low humidity environments like “clean rooms”, data centers or places that air conditioning is used in a closed system. Fast and accurate finger print detection is achieved using a "data rich" algorithm.
With built-in Ethernet (TCP/IP) port, connecting and communicating the device to a network will be very easy and simple. smart2K/Bio™ Administration can be done using any web browser client from anywhere on the network. Additionally, with two built-in relays, the smart2K/Bio™ will also function as a high security access control device.
The smart2k/Bio™ is a full-function stand-alone Time and Attendance and/or Access Control terminal with a built-in memory capacity that will accommodate up to 40,000 records. The smart2k/Bio™ has three different reader options, Barcode, Magnetic and Proximity readers. Equipped with RS-232, RS-485 and TCP/IP protocol Ethernet ports the smart2k/Bio™ can be easily and flexibly connected into any network.

A Master/Slave mode of operation is built in to reduce the number of ports needed in large installations. An extensive array of settable parameters will allow the terminals to be operated in many data collection environments. These parameters are settable via its ports or via the Web. Most of these parameters are also settable via its password-protected keypad.

A full operations mode, battery back up, allows for up to 4 hours of operation of the terminals where electric power is unreliable. With the programmable automatic shutdown when idle, the terminal's battery operation time can be extended to a few days. The clock accuracy and data integrity is safely guarded by a standard lithium battery that has a lifetime of several years.

The single shelled, solid aluminum die cast casing will make the smart2k/Bio™ a very rugged terminal for extreme or harsh operating conditions. The aluminum shell casing with all its electronics is locked on to a wall mounted steel back plate with a key for easy maintenance and repair. All external wire connections to the electronics are done via two sets of terminal blocks for quick and simple installation. A single board electronic design makes the smart2k/Bio™ a very reliable terminal with almost no mechanical moving parts. Using Flash memory, the smart2k/Bio™ can update its firmware at the field level using an optional converter via the computer's serial port. The smart2k/Bio™ terminal is bundled with an easy to use web based "Terminal Utility Program" called the SmartWeb™.

Master/Slave Mode

For scalability purposes, there is a Master/Slave mode where several terminals in the network can be accessed through only one master smart2k/Bio™ that is connected to the computer via, either RS-232 (direct connection) or the Ethernet port. In this manner, the number of ports needed can be minimized and accesses to all non-master terminals are handled via the master terminal.

SmartWeb™ Web Based Administrator

A web-based Administrator program, called SmartWeb™, can be installed in any computer in the network. This application can be accessed with any standard browser. It allows you to configure and administer smart2K terminals remotely from a central location. Running as a Windows service, you also can schedule a task to automatically download the data from your terminals to any designated server at a regular interval.

TCP/IP protocol Ethernet Ports

You can access the smart2k/Bio™ via its built-in Ethernet port with TCP/IP protocol based on its programmable IP address. You may also use Telnet or Hyperterminal to access this terminal via its Ethernet port. Accesses via its Ethernet port is protected using a parameter called "Exclusive Peer" with two settable IP addresses so that accesses may only be done from only these two IP addresses.
